Some of the articles may contains words that those outside of the engineering world might not be too familiar with. Here are the words that are used throughout this issue.
71 . Fluid dynamics
The use of algorithms and equations in simulating the movement and interaction of fluids.
Found in Photo-Realism: An Exact Science? . View Article View Article
72 . Fluorescence microscopy
Microscopy technique that selectively views light of the fluorescence wavelength emitted from the sample by filtering out excitation wavelength light that is reflected from the sample.

73 . Fly ash
The residue resulting from the incineration of materials.
Found in Alternative Building for the Future . View Article View Article
74 . Force vector
A mathematical representation of a force that has both a magnitude (strength) and a particular direction in which it acts.

75 . Frequency
The property or condition of occurring at frequent intervals. The number of times a specified periodic phenomenon occurs within a specified interval, as: The number of repetitions of a complete sequence of values of a periodic function per unit variatio.

76 . Friction base isolation
Base isolation that employs the principle of sliding to allow the building superstructure to slip laterally relative to the foundation (NISEE).

77 . Friction pendulum system
A base isolator that uses low-friction sliding to reduce seismic effects and which uses a curved surface as a damper that keeps the superstructure whose supports are resting inside of the curved surface from drifting too far (Lohana).

78 . Fuel injection system
An engine type where fuel introduction is controlled both spatially and temporally, resulting is a cleaner combustion cycle.

79 . Fundamental frequency
The number of times the top of a building sways back and forth in a second.

80 . Fuzzy controller
An electronic device that analyzes the acceleration and drift response patterns of a building undergoing seismic activity to effectively control a damper (Zhou et al 905).
