31 . Cartridge
A cylindrical case of cardboard, metal, etc. containing the charge and primer, and usually the projectile, for a firearm.

A Charged Coupling Device is a semiconductor fabrication technology used almost exclusively to build photosensitive electronic devices.

33 . Charge coupled device
Common image sensor present in many surveillance cameras; measures the intensity of light via photosites.

34 . Chemical treatment
Adding various chemicals to water to kill specific types of microorganisms.

35 . Chernobyl
World’s worst nuclear power disaster that occurred in the former USSR on April 25th-26th, 1986.

36 . Cofactor
A non-protein molecule that must bind to an enzyme before that enzyme can fully function. Cofactors include both inorganic molecules, such as metal ions, and organic molecules, such as vitamins.

37 . Concave
Curving inward, much like the interior of a sphere.

38 . Conductor
A material or object that permits an electric current to flow easily.

39 . Cones
Light sensitive nerves in the retina able to detect bright light and colors; responsible for visual acuity.

40 . Conservative tracer
A method of testing the properties of water quality in which a chemical is released into the water, then monitored. The data gathered can give information on currents, dilution patterns, etc.
