161 . Quidditch
A game in J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter book series, in which players try to knock balls through rings while flying on broomsticks.

162 . Reactionary forces
These forces, as presented in the article, consist of two major forces: the force of a skier and his skis on the snow and conversely the force of the snow pushing back up on the skier. These forces become stronger on harder and more uneven snow.

163 . Recombinant DNA
Artificially created DNA made by joining DNA fragments from two or more different sources. It is produced in vitro (outside the cell) by cutting the DNA strands with restriction enzymes and then using DNA ligase to splice the pieces together.

An astrogeological term that refers to the soil of a planet.

The opposition offered by a body or substance to the passage through it of a steady electric current.

167 . Resorption
Process through which the body breaks down and absorbs a piece of biological material. This often occurs when autograft or homograft materials are used as replacements.

168 . Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphisms
Using restriction enzymes to cut tandem repeat sequences out of the genome in order to analyze their (the tandem repeat's) length.

169 . Reticuloendothelial System
System comprised of phagocytic cells found in the connective tissue lining the cavities of the liver, spleen, lymph nodes, and other such organs and structures. They play a fundamental immunological role within the human body by removing foreign and unwan.

The membrane at the back of the eye responsible for sensing light and transmitting impulses through the optic nerve to the brain.
